"Decent Player but has consistency problems" 2010-01-08
By Turner (Greenville, SC)
When the Samsung is playing a BluRay or a DVD everything is fine. Good picture and good sound. Generally the Netflix and Pandora features work pretty well. The problem is with overall consistency. It seems the player is extremely sensitive to Blu Rays. Sometimes you cannot see any visible scratches whatsoever, yet it just spins and spins and makes a weird noise. You're then forced to power off the unit. You can't even press stop at that point. Other times it will randomly freeze during playback and I have to fast forward a few frames.

Generally the netflix has been good. The only problem is that sometime there will be no sound. Maybe 10-15% of the time. The only thing that seemed to work is to power the whole unit down. That can be irritating.

Overall, when the player works it works great, but not having the consistency gets very old after a while. I'd probably look at another model other than this one.

"Don't forget to order an important part!!" 2010-01-07

We were excited about the price on Amazon and about how quickly we received it!! Problem they didn't mention is that you need the $80 wireless LAN adapter in order to connect immediately to netflix etc... So we haven't gotten to experience the full potential until we go back and order the rest of it!! Be sure to do all your homework before placing your order and being romanced by the nice price!

 "Flawless!" 2010-01-07
By James T. Wilson (Hayward, CA)
I did a lot of resarch before buying this product. Many reviews were very positive, and some were super-negative. Every make and model I read about had pretty much the same kind of reviews. So I bought the Samsung based on its reputation as being high quality. I have not been disappointed. It has performed flawlessly. I connected it to Netflix and Pandora, and have used them almost daily. Not a single freeze-up or glitch. I did take the advice of many reviewers, and have chosen not to upgrade the firmware. To top it all off, Amazon's price was the best I could find, along with free shipping. I highly recommend the Samsung as an excellent mid-range BluRay disc player.

 "Definiitely Worth Checking out..." 2010-01-07
By John Strano (NJ)
I really like this machine, but there could be a few improvements. The first and most bothersome problem to me is the limited functionality of the "resume" function - where you can continue to watch a DVD from where you left off. It only works with the disc that is in the machine provided you do not remove it and you do not use any of the other functions in between - such as Pandora or Netflix. You can buy a new DVD player for $20 that remembers its spot on you last 2 or 3 DVDs, so why should this one be any less functional? The other issue is the wireless connectivity, which it does "support", but I believe you need an external device! In all honesty, if you want high quality video you shoud run a wire anyway because wireless connections are ALWAYS disappointing - so this "problem" doesn't really bother me at all, but it might be a big deal to others. The Netflix and Pandora are excellent and I use them constantly. I previously needed an attached computer for this ability, but not any more. The technology is definitely getting there. The only challenge is that you really need ethernet wiring all throughout your house.

 "Blu-ray BD-1600" 2010-01-06
By D. Williams (Atlanta,GA)
Received player on date I was told it would be there. Packed very well.

It works very well with by new 46" HDTV. It is a little noisy when it first starts up but you do not hear it when movie is playing. I plan on down loading movies from internet, which this player does event though you must buy plug in device to receive wireless signal. So far I am pleased with unit.
